Calling all macarbe, gore, horror lovers. This book is for you!
This book! This is going straight into my favourites pile!
First of all, can we just appreciate the cover for a minute? It's so beautiful. My little black heart is fangirling so hard for it.
Eyes Guts Throat Bones is a saphic horror short story collection of pure imaginary brilliance. At first, I was a little confused as to what was actually going on, and I was a few times throughout, but once you actually grasp an understanding of what is happening, everything comes together. This is honestly one of the most artistic styles of storytelling I've come across so far. I was so enraptured by the stories and all the varying writing styles that I ate this up I'm no time.
I don't think I've ever read a book where I've said so many iterations of WhAt ThE FuCk in my life.
Each story is just so bizarre, creepy, dark, mortifying, weird, strange... all the adjectives under this umbrella! Let's not forget how heavily sensual, sexual, erotic and downright filthy this is, too. Also, big shout out for the queer representation, too! As someone who is a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, it feels refreshing to have inclusive roles and stories at such a high standard as this.
I love mostly how this book has you thinking. The metaphors and concepts really engage you and take you places.
Obviously, some stories are more favoured than others, but each one is so different, touches different subjects, and hits you differently. They are all still so brilliant.
If you're like me and love this sort of thing, definitely pick it up and give it a read. I promise you, you will not he disappointed. But you most certainly need thick skin and a string stomach to be able to read everything.
