Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

4.0

This was a great graphic novel about growing up in revolutionary Iran. Marjane learns to fit in, stand out, and stand up in a changing and repressive society. I'm using ideas from other teachers to make this into a unit for my middle schoolers, who can't find Iran on a map but know for sure that Iranians are all terrorists. Hoping to change that.
