“ The boys looked at each other without a word and knew that this was a secret they would share. Who could they tell? After all, who would believe them?”

3/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was gifted this copy in exchange for an honest review which I was excited to do. This is book of 13 short stories and was co-authored by Nadia Teoli who is just 12 years old. This is such a huge achievement for someone so young!

The stories are very short and it is an easy and quick read. It gave me a wonderful feeling of nostalgia as it reminded me of primary school and the ghost club we used to have. My friends and I would sit under the trees at the back of the field and tell spooky stories which were so similar to these.

The stories are not particularly clever and there are no real twists or surprises. However, they are deliciously spooky and are perfect for pre-teens wanting to experiment with horror. There is very little blood or gore and they are not too scary. The language is easily accessible and the length of the stories make it a great read for a child who has trouble committing to longer novels. It’s a nice little book that was a pleasure to read.
