I'm a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and was hoping to get similar vibes from this. I would say it got about halfway there. The writing was fine, I think it could stand to be a little more complex and flow a bit more. The same with the plot, the first half of the book was really well developed and well done. And then right around the 55% mark everything just started on the fast track to resolution. The finale that we reached was both good and appropriate, I just would have liked more tension and sacrifice to get there.
Overall, I really appreciated the thorough description and details as it really transported me to Turkey; which was awesome because I've never been. The two main characters seemed to be pretty well developed. I would like to see the secondary and tertiary characters developed a bit more as well as the world. I think the way the plot unfolded also forced the reader to rely on knowledge that they already had "out of world" to build out the world in the book a bit too much.
All that said, I did enjoy Delia as a character and I'd like to read more of her story.
