My Roommate is a Vampire is a cute character driven story following Cassie, an artist, and Fredrick, a vampire as they adjust to being roommates….and something more 👀
I went into this book with very little idea about it, I mostly just picked it up because the cover was cute and the premise sounded interesting. That and monster romances are a guilty pleasure of mine. The characters in this book are extremely lovable in their own various ways, even Reggie, a friend of Fredrick, who can be annoying at times. While there is some form of a plot, it’s honestly very minor, but is also the reason of it not being completely 5 stars for me. The small plot that you do follow through the book was honestly wrapped up in an underwhelming way, but didn’t take away that much from the overall novel for me. It was still a great read!
The romance was simply adorable. If you love grumpy X sunshine, forced proximity, and “I will do anything for you” tropes then THIS is your book. Put everything else down and pick this up! I was gushing over their flirting and interactions with each other throughout the book. It was so hard to keep a poker face while at work! I just kept smiling like an idiot. For those who like spice, there is some, one open door and one closed door. The open door is whew! I liked that it didn’t feel entirely out of place.
Overall, this is an adorable and honestly cozy read with a strong character driven story. I would definitely recommend reading this if you want to dip your toes into the monster romance world!
