Escape from the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz
1.0
listen, i loved these books, but this was one just awful and i could not finish it.
i don't want to sit and call it ass. it pains me to say it, but it was ass.
this book is a reflection of how trash the 3rd movie was. at this point no one in charge of writing for descendants knew what they wanted to do with this story and its so sad to see it go out like this.
i love melissa's writing as i own numerous books by her and im gonna be honest i do not really blame her for this book being so terrible! descendants has this ongoing issue with continuity and the author does what she can to include the factors and characters within the animated series and the movies. you wanna know what the main problem is? it's obvious that the people who wrote the animated show and movies DID NOT read these books and skimmed them at most. overall its disappointing the it's clear the effort was not put in all around and it's what made this book suffer the most.
the first arc of descendants (because the new movies focus on new characters) ended on a weak note because disney didn't want to slow down with this series. i feel like if they took the time to understand who is who and what is what it would not have been so dry and boring in the end.
