It's a summary of Edmonia Lewis's life and while she had an interesting life, it was written in a very dry way.
It didn't feel like I was being told a story, but instead it read more like an illustrated wikipedia article. It was one fact about her life after an other, without it really being strung together in a way that felt captivating.
I ended up feeling quite removed and Edmonia never really leapt off the page.
The illustrations are beautiful though, but the lack of story telling let it down for me.
