One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke

5.0

Lucy Clarke is fast becoming a new favourite author of mine! This book was a thriller masterpiece that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, it is expertly written with a tension-filled plot that never lets up.

We embark on a hen's trip with 6 girls, interconnected through the Bride, each carrying their own secrets along with them for the trip. Slowly but surely, the truth trickles out from each character, I loved the little teases of the secrets throughout the book, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, desperate for more information the entire way through.

The contrast between the seemingly idyllic setting of the remote Greece beach house and the dark secrets that the characters are hiding is what makes this book truly outstanding. The tension builds and builds until the explosive climax, leaving the reader reeling with shock and surprise.

Lucy Clarke's writing style is fast-paced, incredibly descriptive and engaging, making it seem like you are right there along with the characters, each of whom had their own unique story and secrets to uncover. The multiple points of view allows the reader to get to know each character intimately, making their journeys and the shocking twists all the more impactful, while the short chapters helped keep the tension ramped up and the pacing just perfect! The ending was such a twist that I never ever saw coming, I had multiple theories throughout the book but I loved the way it all played out.

This is a must-read for anyone who loves a good suspenseful thriller. Lucy Clarke has once again proven herself to be a master of this genre, and I can't wait to read more from her!
