Between a Wolf and a Hard Place by Terry Spear

2.0

I received an ARC of this book and had only read a couple of books in the series prior to this (and not in the proper order), so that might be coloring my opinion but I could not get into this book. Ellie MacTire owns an inn with her two sisters; she's a werewolf shifter and she happens to be able to see ghosts. When the wolf she's dating, Brett, donates his great aunt's piano to the inn, it comes with a surprise--Brett's great aunt's ghost. Ellie hasn't told Brett she sees ghosts and now feels additional pressure since the ghost she's seeing is a beloved family member. The pacing was just very slow and the main conflict of the beginning, her being able to see ghosts and whether or not he'll believe her, was somewhat anticlimactic. There's then the question of whether or not she died of natural causes, but even that just wasn't very exciting. Ultimately I couldn't even finish the book. Part of this might have been my lack of emotional connection to the main characters since the majority of their individual character development seemed to have occurred in a different book--they were already dating when the book starts.
