Fit to be Tied, by Mary Calmes

4.0

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book of the series. Calmes writes emotional angst as well as anyone I've read. She describes the conflicts in Milo and Ian's relationship so convincingly that I hurt for both of them as they try to figure out how to keep loving each other through their differences. They are a very passionate couple, and that translates to big highs and equally low lows.

I don't care for serial killer stories, so this was a bit out of my comfort zone, which is why the grade isn't a B+. Too much detail. But still a great story.

I still felt like at times I was dropped into a conversation in the middle, or I didn't understand what was being said, but I think I've figured out part of the reason. Just the other day I watched a funny video with a person from the south (US) talking a person from the Midwest, and they were having trouble with the idioms that are unique to each region. I live in the South, and it clicked with me then that some of what I was experiencing was my lack of knowledge about Midwestern idiomatic language. What tipped me off was the number of times a character answered a question with "Yeah no." or even "No yeah." That was part of the video, and once I picked it out in the book, I realized what was going on (the books are mostly set in Chicago) and felt less confused. :)

On to book three!
