A Guarded Heart by Heidi Kimball

5.0

All the feels for this book! I laughed, cried, felt heartbroken...it was amazing! This book is a journey of self-discovery, forgiveness, grief, family, love, friendship and so much more.
Eleanor Hayward is coming back into society after a scandal thrust her into an unwanted and unexpected isolation that lasted for 3 years. She is hoping to put the past behind her and hopefully find happiness when she comes face-to-face with the man that broke her heart. Edmund Fletcher didn't realize that visiting his cousins would cause him to literally face his past. When he sees Eleanor after 3 years he doesn't know exactly what to think or feel.
Through a series of events, they are in each others company on a regular basis. Eleanor has a responsibility to her father who has fallen apart since the disappearance of her brother and the death of her mother. Edmund has recently inherited his uncle's estate after his death. Both have to come to terms with who they are and where they are at in life.
Most books like this are predictable, and even though certain aspects of this title are a little predictable, overall I was pleasantly surprised at how the book wrapped up. I really enjoyed this title and all the emotions it brought to the surface. I highly recommend this book if you are ready to be surprised and fall in love with some new friends.
