This book picks up immediately after the first and is hit-or-miss on recapping information from the previous book so you will need to reread the first before grabbing this one.
Smut and vampire romance (enemy-ish to lovers) parts were on point. Steam has d/s aspects. Romance has dark aspects. Overall good stuff.
This was presented to me as a 'court intrigue kind of murder mystery' plot... I DNFed. Having someone who seems suspicious of everything but likes to run straight at problems while solving a murder? Eh. Having people just accuse everyone whose being shady (when everyone is being shady) of said murder? Eh. Having the most obvious (but redundant) suspect also be the love interest? Eh.
3* on romance half of the book.
2* on main plot half of the book.
