I read The man who wanted to be happy in my teens and much preferred it.
I think this one worked less for me due to the setting, it made the self-help aspect too heavy and on the nose. I liked hearing about the different characters, their backstory but think this could have been trimmed down. It almost has a thriller/mystery feel.
I wouldn't say the cast is diverse because they're all white, we have characters from the US, England, France and Russia.
