So it's probably been 30 years or more since I read this, but it was one of my favorites at the time.
This time I was reading it to my 8-year old twin daughters. We read all the Harry Potter books last year. And I must say they weren't really impressed with The Hobbit. They fell asleep several times, which never happened with the Harry Potter books. And I couldn't help but think that Gandalf would be no match for Dumbledore.
