Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon's Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart by James R. Doty

4.0

A book that was used as inspiration for my ultimate BTS comfort song? Sign me up. I had to buy it solely for this reason. The first part with Ruth's mindfulness techniques weren't anything new for me, but I enjoyed them anyway and also what I learned about the authors life in this section.

Part two got more into manifesting and intent- things that I personally don't care for. I think that intent is fine, and visualizing your future is great, but I don't really believe in the whole manifesting thing. I learned a lot more about the author's life in this part, which I enjoyed.

Part three was about opening the heart, where the author went over values to practice to live with an open heart. I found this to be the most outright helpful section of the book. I enjoyed this book and the overall message of it, and invite everyone to "make a door in your heart; open the door and this place will await. It's okay to believe, the Magic Shop will comfort you."
