The Widow by Carla Neggers

4.0

When I first read the little blurb about the book I really wanted to read The Widow and when finally I bought this book I was absolutely dying to read it. I made myself wait for awhile and read books I've had lying around for quite a long time first. Now that I've finally read it, I did enjoy it but not as much as I had hoped I would.

The plot was interesting to a certain point. The way Neggers started the book had me kind of confused as to how things were going to get rolling but she wrote it in such a way that made me want to continue reading.

Abigail Browning was an interesting character, I didn't find that she was portrayed so much as those "tough as nails" female cops that other suspense/mystery authors create; which I found interesting. It made the storyline more believable, I find.

The main relationship in this book was anything from romantic. In fact, I found it almost dull. There didn't seem to be altogether that much chemistry between Owen and Abigail, thus making their relationship a tad boring.

Abigail's dead husband, Chris Browning, was killed seven years before but it sort of surprised me that his killer didn't kill any others in that time. The killer seemed to be normal, as in not a killer type of person. :)

The reason I gave this book four stars is because of the way Neggers kept me wondering who the killer was. It wasn't until she unveiled the killer that I realized it made sense and all fit together.
