Love for the Cold-Blooded Or: The Part-Time Evil Minion's Guide to Accidentally Dating a Superhero by Alex Gabriel

Did not finish book. Stopped at 65%.
This book isn't badly written, (although some people might find its main character's goofy, good-natured enthusiasm to be grating), but it is too long and weirdly structured. Generally a romantic comedy in which one person is keeping a secret from another has just the one secret to be revealed. This book has three: 1) Pat is not a sex worker, 2) Pat works as an evil minion for one supervillain, 3), Pat's mother is a different supervillain. (The blurb implies that Pat works as an evil minion for his mother, but there's actually a whole extra supervillain with plans for world domination in this book before Pat's mother even shows up!) What actually caused me to finally abandon this book were the sex scenes, which are long and don't add anything to the plot or the character development. I wasn't in the mood for pure titillation and gave up reading properly at 65%. I skimmed the rest of the book and came to the conclusion that I can't see Pat and Nick's relationship working long-term.
