Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds by David Goggins

inspiring medium-paced

2.0

I listened to this as an audiobook for clarification.
The story was interesting but I wish the author had narrated the audiobookbook. Full disclosure, this was recommended to me by a friend and so this is my first ever introduction to David Goggins. The audiobook included "podcast" segments where the author and narrator would jump in to add details or discuss chapters. Listening to David Goggins during the "podcast" segments, he seemed to have an easy confidence and an enthusiastic tone that sparked the want to be better. But the narrator came across as a little whiny and unsure to me. Also, there is a TON of unnecessary swearing in this book. Which personally never usually bothers me, nor do I tend to notice. But because this particular narrator sounded so unnatural when he swore it just came across as awkward and the swears stuck out way more which made it all a little obnoxious. The narrator just didn't fit the tone of the book in my opinion so I think it affected by overall enjoyment of the story. I will say I loved the "podcast" segments. excellent addition and I enjoyed those parts way more than the book portions.
