You Will Get Through This Night by Daniel Howell

3.0

definitely was a good audiobook. as someone who watched to dan's videos for years i felt like it was no different listening to him for 6 hours. this was my first venture into mental health books or self-care books. the exercises were nice and i feel like i could come back to some of these sections as a reminder during hard times.

but overall i wasnt blown away with the knowledge that was bestowed upon me. i did enjoy dan's humor and the times i could really feel his authentic voice and experience. i feel like with the goal he had in mind he accomplished it. however i feel like if he had gone more in a personal route like his "daniel and depression" video then it wouldve hit stronger. the parts where dan talks about his personal life in small anecdotes were easily my favorite parts.

sometimes within the audiobook itself it more just felt like a long draw of information. which could just be kinda boring. but thats why you are sorta told that you can skip sections and to take what applies to you.

i feel like this book would be more helpful for those who are newly dealing with their mental health issues. so just because i didnt get the experience and knew some of this information already doesnt mean that its the case like that for everyone.

i definitely feel like my score would change if i used these guides and if i were to come back to these sections. the 3/5 experience more came from trying to experience the whole thing at once. which i dont think is how this book is meant to be read.

but overall i love dan and im really proud of this amazing book he has put together. he truly is making a difference and im glad i can continue to show my support for his works.
