The best word to describe this is that it was ok. It’s an easy, quick read and has a swoony love interest and a nice setting, but other than that it wasn’t anything special. The characters and the plot felt underdeveloped - it almost felt like nothing really happened? And also that things weren’t tied up - like, how did things end with her dad? Is he going to try contesting the will? Guess we’ll never know. I did like that the romance was fast tracked - i do like when the couple just get on with things and there’s no slow burn will they/won’t they. The biggest flaw of those book for me were the pop culture references. It felt like on every page there was some absolutely cringe worthy reference and every time it felt jarring. Also, Drew very much gives off i’m not like other girls. Ok, you don’t like high heels and pretty dresses and make up so fucking what. This is such an old, dried up trope. Overall, it’s a cute, quick read and I really liked Jasper, he was proper golden retriever simp and i loved the Book Nook, it sounds dreamy.
