Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

2.0

2.5 stars. i really don’t like crime/mystery/murder books, but i liked sharp objects and gone girl because the character development was so much better than any other books in the genre and Flynn actually cares about creating dynamic and human women instead of like overly sexualized victims. so i was expecting the same for this, and it did deliver in that i like Libby’s character, but it was just too sensationalized violence for me. it really sucks to use child molestation for entertainment value, but i guess that’s why i typically don’t read these types of books. if you like crime novels you’ll probably like this but to me it was unnecessarily gruesome.
