In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction by Gabor Maté

5.0

What I appreciate most about Gabor Maté is the ownership of his humanity and willingness to allow us to learn alongside his missteps and flaws. This book hits all the important categories for me - harm reduction, role of trauma, neuroscience, biosocial theory, recognition of behavioral addictions, countertransference/societal attitudes, attachment injuries - all the good stuff that helps build compassion for our fellow humans during times of increased illness. Continues the trend of loving every single piece of work this man produces.
