3.5

I bought this book in 2011. I remember really liking it back then, so much that I could not wait for part 2 and 3. Mind you, I was 16/17 back then. I picked it up recently because I did not have a single clue what the book was about anymore and decided to give it another read. I must say, I was slightly disappointed.

The concept is good, the execution less so. The characters are rather one dimensional and not very likeable, even before they read the book. Additionally the book drags on a bit, and the parts that are written in the old fashioned fantasy tone are sometimes rather dull as well.

After reading it again I have decided I do not think that I will look for part 2 and 3 straight away. Not the worst book, but lacking depth.
