Moore Zombies: Halloween by Sudipta Dasgupta, Wendy Knuth
4.0
I really enjoy the mixture of the chaos and the learning of the Moore Zombies and this is one of them. I would have given it 5 stars if all of the All Hallows information was correct. However it bugged me slightly that while she understood that the people dressed up she got the facts wrong as to why. Children were dressed up to protect them from the spirits that returned to the earth on All Hallows when the veil is at it's thinnest. By turning all those below the age of 12 into ghouls and creatures of the night they would not be stolen from their families and it would protect them.
All the same I loved the story and the fact that she was wiling to see the roots of the tradition and the way the custom that it is has become today. A fun story with a good scare mixed in. Well worth a read.
