The Adventures of Pinocchio by Gioia Fiammenghi, Carlo Collodi, John Boyne

4.0

like Peter Pan and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland I really like children's books that have a bit of magical realism (is that what you'd call it?) in them. unlike the other two books tho this one focuses more on morals and actually has a moral to the story that's much easier to pinpoint LMAO. I thought this was a super cute book. but my god Pinocchio is so annoying at some points. what a brat. but watching his character development was super cool. as I was reading this book I couldn't stop thinking about how much it relates to my senior thesis (which talks about the importance of education basically). out of the children's classics I've read (Peter pan, Alice's adventures in wonderland, and this one) I would say Pinocchio is my least favorite but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I just didn't like this one as much bc Pinocchio was like kinda annoying LMAO. I really liked how fast paced the book was tho and it was super easy to just fly through the story. this would be a great book to read to children to teach them to be good kids. bc if you're a bad kid you get turned into a donkey!!!!!! this story is sort of borderline absurd simply bc of all of the weird things that happen in it but I think that's what makes the book so good and perfect for children (bc children are so gullible and believe anything smh). anyways LMFAO I thought this was a super good children's book. if you want your child to be learned and start reading classics early then I would have them read this book. good plot, good moral, good everything. Pinocchio was just annoying as freak.
