The Best Short Stories 2022: The O. Henry Prize Winners by Jenny Minton Quigley, Valeria Luiselli

4.0

"Reading means tossing an anchor into deep waters, that reading is the third dimension of a two-dimensional person."

A wonderful collection of short stories from 2022. I loved the diversity of authors, with works from Nigeria, Russia, the US, Norway, and Puerto Rico.

My favorite was Zikora by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the queen of Nigerian literature. So amazing to see what authors from all over the world can achieve with a small story. Abrupt and heart-wrenching endings, some with a strangeness, others with deep sadness.
