The House of Bernarda Alba: La Casa de Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca

3.0

I read this for my Spanish A level btw. Probably wouldn’t have read it otherwise.

I’d give a 3.5 if I could.

It’s like reading a period soap opera although I’m not too sure what time it is set although it was written cerca 1936.
I’m so glad that I read it with the English accompaniment or if not I would be so lost with all phrases and idioms. I can’t tell the difference between Magdalena and Martirio.
Finally, I get that this is meant to be a comment on women’s roles at the time and it’s a critique on the way society works but some bits just made me giggle a tad too much.
