Fractured by Rosalind James

4.0

In this book, Rosalind James brings us Fractured, as a sequel to Fierce. I was surprised to hear she was writing a sequel, because I thought Fierce was pretty well developed and ended on a positive note. However, Fractured showed just how much of the story was missing, and gives so much more insight into Hemi's side of things. This book delves deeper into what happens after Hope says yes to Hemi's proposal - and shows that life is not always rainbows and butterflies. When Hope accepts Hemi's proposal, Hemi, of course, wants to get married immediately, but there's one little problem still to solve - his first marriage was never dissolved! In this book Hope and Karen are moving in with Hemi while he resolves things from his past so that his future with Hope can proceed. Karen is well and becoming a bratty teenager. Hope seems a little weaker than in Fierce and I am hoping her fierce independent nature and backbone returns. Fractured is not a typical James book. It is much steamier, with the scenes much hotter. It really works for Hope and Hemi, though. This is a cliffhanger novel. None of James' previous books were cliffhangers, so readers may be surprised, but book 3 is coming out very quickly so the wait will not be long at all.
