Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe

5.0

Wow, so much of this hit home for me even though a lot of it has not been my experience. I guess that’s what makes a good memoir. I appreciate that Maia Kobabe normalized feeling uncomfortable correcting people when they get pronouns wrong, and that learning to live in your identity confidently is a work in progress. I appreciate the book ended with them seemingly still sorting through everything. It didn’t end with a strident proclamation of their labels, and that’s okay because that’s real for a lot of people.
