Only for the Weekend by Riley Hart

I'm so happy that I was introduced to Riley Hart's books, especially this series. I'm so invested in these characters. After finishing this book, I immediately started the sequel, A Million Little Moments. I used to shy away from adult MM Romance books because I used to think they were only about sex, but I'm discovering these books are so much more. Yes, the spice sprinkled throughout the many story is fantastic and at times, delicious, but I never expected to feel so many emotions while reading these stories. I never expected to find myself relating to characters on such an emotional level.

Sam is such a precious soul that deserves everything in the world, and Emerson is way too hard on himself for things that are out of his control. I found myself relating to pieces of these characters as they developed throughout the story. I understand always putting everyone else's happiness even if that means you have zero joy left to give yourself like Sam, and I understand punishing yourself for past traumas that weren't yours to carry in the first place or believe you deserve unhappiness because of things out of your control. These types of connections with characters do not simply happen when you read. I've read plenty of books where I didn't feel connections with the characters on the page. These connections are created by an author's ability to transform their characters into realistic and authentic beings, whose stories unfold as the reader travels on the same journey and path destined for these characters.

Riley Hart is a master at making her readers feel emotion after emotion as they get to know her characters and the stories she's created. I'm so happy that I have the opportunity to hear these stories, and I highly recommend her books to anyone who wants to go on a journey of love, self-acceptance, and connection.
