A compelling mystery along with a compelling coming of age story. The main character is resourceful and often independent until a man shows up. My main qualm with this book was the relationships between the main character and her lovers. Poorly written and even the good guy was problematic.
Graphic: Domestic abuse, Sexual content, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Detailed descriptions of sexual encounters including one non consensual attempt that includes physical abuse. At one point the main character at 15, who lives alone in the marsh, is dating an 18 year old boy about to go to college.
