This should have been a cute, dirty holiday story but the "this is an every woman character who I will not describe so that you can just imagine yourself" attempt was a total fail and ended up being distracting and disappointing. The end result was a bland, dull character - because there were OF COURSE descriptors that didn't match me, like pubic hair and clothing choices, so I couldn't insert myself into the story. With no other options, the character fell totally flat. The guys also lacked a deep dive into character: they seemed pretty interchangeable and felt jumbled and bland.
I also could not stand the annoying-sister-text-message conversations that seemed to eat up over half the book. The only person with clear characteristics and they were awful. I saw the next book was about the sister and I RAN in the other direction, there's no way I need more of that obnoxiousness.
But the spice was pretty good, so it gets 2 stars just for that - and if you just want action with zero character, then you might rate this higher!
