Of Woman Born: Motherhood as Experience and Institution by Adrienne Rich
Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
this was way more academic than what i was anticipating so i’m soft DNFing at 25%. you definitely see how the time period it was written in influenced the content and the tone. we’ve come a long way since 1976! i do think the use of multiple introductions, as well as the footnotes rich added for the 10th anniversary edition, were a really interesting display of how people’s ways of thinking can evolve over time. you get the sense that she could’ve kept returning to the text every 10 years, armed with more inclusive points of view each time.
