I have thoughts, but I mostly really, really connected to and enjoyed this! Going to re-read it and collect those thoughts before I say anything about this story.

Ok, thoughts have been collected, haha.

I think this is a really important book for parents to read to their kids. I know first hand how hard the need to be perfect at all times can affect some people, and a lot of times it’s not even your fault or a conscious choice that you’re making - you just feel like you have to be perfect or else somebody is going to be upset, or you’ll disappoint someone, or someone will think you’re “too much” and abandon you.

This seemingly simple picture book talks about a complex mental health issue in a very easy to understand way with cute, sleek illustrations that I think kids will love. Will they fully grasp the moral of the story? Sure, if the person reading it to them opens up the conversation that many parents couldn’t (or wouldn’t) have had in the past about what it means to love yourself, how to take care of yourself, and how to give yourself grace and kindness.

Really, really loved this one and will probably buy myself a copy!
