Chapter 9 thoroughly broke me it’s possibly one of the best things I’ve ever read. The writing is Vo at her very best - lyrical and aptly conveying the desperation and hope in our protagonists.
While this technically checks the “fantasy” and “romance” boxes, this is the furthest thing from a romantasy book. It’s about grief and how to love. It spans hundreds of years but at its core are two compellingly flawed characters.
The ending felt a little rushed to me, though the rest of the book was definitely on the slower side.
“I want for you to love me as I love you”
“I love you so, I love you best“
