Review:
It's been a long time since I attempted to read this book, and I seem to have differing memories of this story now from when I last tried to read it. In any event, it was a fun romp of a story, and I found it so interesting to not only see the origin of the entire world where Narnia is, but also where the White Witch comes from. I am very curious about the world where she used to live, and all of its history. Was she always from that world, or did she come from another world before that as well? Why was she frozen as stone until she was awoken? Does she remember anything about Earth or Charn once she establishes herself in Narnia? I'm curious about how deep it all goes outside of this story, and I don't think we ever get answers, but it does make me curious. I also enjoyed seeing some of the other Londoners who ended up coming along for the journey, as well as the creation of Narnia and the animals who became self-aware. This story had a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour, and I enjoyed that it wasn't too serious of a story, but how it did such a wonderful job of setting up the whole series. I am curious what came of Polly, and I am also surprised and curious about the decision for Polly and Digory to not have pursued a relationship after their adventure, with Digory staying single his whole life. I'm not complaining, but it almost felt like something which might've happened, and I'm curious what Polly did with her life, and whether she play any other kind of role later in the series.
