I'll Be There by Holly Goldberg Sloan
3.0
Quirky.
I'm having a hard time thinking of any other word to describe this. I enjoyed the story, but on occasion had a hard time suspending disbelief. I greatly appreciate the idea that this book is about the connections between people, but some of those connections were a little too tenuous.
The characters were multidimensional and interesting, but I agree with one reviewer who wondered about Bobby. He was initially depicted as neither good nor bad, but as the story continued, he became selfish and shallow and ridiculous.
The relationship between the brothers was inspiring, and I really want a dress like the one Emily bought to wear to prom.
Some violence and child abuse.
