I would love to follow Carmen Maria Machado for the rest of her career as a writer for as long as she wants to do it. I want every character to punch me in the face, with consent. It would hurt less. This book gives me the same thrilling and tense feeling that I would probably get if I were dropped in the middle of the ocean.
