I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I didn't love the last installment of the Hope Falls series. I was a tad bit worried I was just not in love with Hope Falls anymore (I admittedly sometimes get sick of a setting/series and lose interest after multiple books) but this book totally changed my mind. This one reminded me why I fell in love with Hope Falls to begin with….the common thread of familiar people and places, with a story that stands all on its own.

This story is about Logan Dorsey and Emma Locke. Logan is a police officer, taking some much needed R&R in Hope Falls where his brother lives, after symptoms of PTSD from his time in the Marines surfaces. Emma is a widow after losing her husband, who was also Logan's best friend while they were both Marines. She is a single mother to Drew, a successful author who has lost her writing mojo.

While Drew is supposed to be at sleep away camp, Emma plans some publisher meetings in New York City. Much to her surprise, she receives a phone call from Logan announcing that Drew snuck away from sleep away camp and showed up on his doorstep in Hope Falls.

Drew unites Emma and Logan in a common goal to help him deal with the loss of his father at such a young age, while they are forced to work through their mutual attraction.

I love this standalone installment in the Hope Falls series! This can be read as an independent book yet has ties to the rest of the series. This was a well written story with characters I loved and was rooting for the entire way.
