The third book in the series - and probably the most heartbreaking thus far. Child abuse is a heavy topic. Mix that with trafficking, serial killings, and one detectives traumatic backstory, you get a chilling narrative.
I found this one to be a little slower paced than the others, of course that could just be because it made me emotional. It accurately points out the flaws in the system in regards to foster care and child protective services. It highlights the pain and trauma that follows child abuse and the horrific truths behind it.
The stories in this one was graphic and hard to believe - but the truth behind it is insanely and entirely realistic.
Definitely a hard book to read, but also a hard book to put down.
