Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose by Tony Hsieh

2.0

I think Tony Hseih and the story of Zappos are super cool, especially his wacky hiring practises, company culture mentality and the way he implemented his ‘customer experience first’ value (as a gag an exec once called their call centre because they couldn’t find any open pizza places in LA and they found & listed all the nearby pizza joints still open! They have a 365 day return policy! He offered new hires $2,000 to leave the company to see if they actually cared about having a career there!)

But I just didn’t love this book. I powered through it because SO many other business books have referred to Zappos as the way to do company culture and customer experience right. This might be great for someone with a large team or a person looking for ways to manage lots of employees or develop a close knit company, but I didn’t love it.
