Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

2.5

"There is no glory without danger."

Norse Mythology is a very straightforward and easily digestible collection of short stories. And if you're looking for a basic iteration of Norse Mythology with a sense of humor and barely any fluff, this is the book for you.

As someone who doesn't usually read much on this subject, this got a bit too bland halfway through. I was most invested whenever Loki was busy with his shenanigans (like the story involving the master builder +  when Thor's hammer was created then stolen by Thrym, as well as the ones about Loki's kids).

Hel and Fenris Wolf seemed like interesting characters but given the nature of the book they weren't really explored in-depth. Overall it's a serviceable, funny book but its prose leans more toward a middle grade audience, which is fine but not my preference for this kind of book.
