Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess by Rachel Renée Russell

5.0

Nikki’s school is having an ice-skating contest, where teams of students will be sponsored by a local establishment and perform an ice-skating routine. Whoever wins will get to have a donation to send to the establishment. As Nikki gets closer to Brandon by helping volunteer at the animal center, Fuzzy Friends, she decides that her friends, Zoey and Chloe, should pick Fuzzy Friends.

Nikki believes that Brandon will have to move if Fuzzy Friends go out of business, but she doesn’t want him to find out that she knows. It’s not going to be easy winning the competition, especially since Nikki can barely skate. Will Nikki be able to beat Mackenzie and save Fuzzy Friends?

I haven’t read a lot of middle grade literature, but the ones I have, I’ve absolutely loved. I have loved every book in the Dork Diaries series, and this one is no exception. The pictures are absolutely adorable.

I think Brandon is so cute, and I’ve loved the progression of Nikki’s and Brandon’s story. I hope they’ll get together in the future. I love all of Briana’s, Nikki’s little sister, and her imaginary friend, Miss Penelope, who happens to be a face drawn on Briana’s hand, shenanigans. I’ve said it before, but I think it really would be fun to have a spin-off series on Briana.

I can’t wait until Tales from a Not-So-Smart-Miss-Know-It-All!
