Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
This book simply hurt me. Like, im honestly not sure I made it to the 70 pages I claimed to read. It was well written and the fact I stopped reading has nothing to do with the authors ability. I am merely a weenie with a bleeding heart. I tried to do what I usually do with Horror Films, which I have my cousin watch/read it and tell me about it. However, it took them literal years to get through this book due to the severe nature of it and the vibrant writing style. When they finished they wanted to burn the book in a symbolic gesture of release but I'm fairly sure it's still on their bookshelf. If you are capable of enduring incredible heartache, then by all means I recommend this book as the author is truly a favorite of mine as is the main character. I would like to end this my clarifying that I am not a crier and I can usually intake media well, but this book had me f*cked up.
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Slavery, and Gaslighting
All the content warnings. I am literally tagging what I can remember so I might have missed a lot. 10/10 this book is a work of art purely by the definition that it made me feel
