Junie B., First Grader by Barbara Park

4.0

Junie B is one of Atty's favorite characters at the moment. She is very cheeky and while the series has gotten criticized for bad grammar, a reader at Atty's level knows the grammatical errors are intentional and finds them funny. He even corrects them most of the time, which I imagine is the desired effect after all. This volume is particularly great because it deals with the fears of a new school teacher and a change in the cast of regular friends, anxieties to which kids in this age range can really relate.
