The Sunshine Girls by Molly Fader
Did not finish book. Stopped at 32%.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Graydon House, & HarperCollins for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.
DNF @ 32% / 116pgs
Writing was good - very readable - and I enjoyed the beginning a lot, as well as the characters that were introduced.
This one lost me as soon as we reached the portion where the MC said goodbye (*wink wink*) to her fiancé prior to him going out to Vietnam in 1968, andshe gets pregnant . This is one thing I've realized in the past couple of years that I really need to be in the exact right mood for (the trope of the first time a woman has sex she gets pregnant, either because she doesn't know how sex works or because she's *that* unlucky).
Right after this revelation, something terrible happens (not related toher pregnancy ) and that was it for me on this one. I can't say if there are content warnings with what happens to the MC in the future, because I don't know what decision she made.
Based on the first 100pgs, I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't have problems with that trope!
