Read this one recently with my daughter to finish out the series. We read them out of order. I think they would be better read in order, but when we originally picked up book two as the first read we didn't realize it was a series. We didn't find them confusing to read at all, but there may be some light spoilers and such by reading later books first.
I think this was one of the weaker books in the series. It started strong, I liked the bits with Cass tracking down the Jester, but overall it was just too long. This one clocked in at just over 400 pages, where the others were around 350 or less.
The Midnight Sun felt a little absent too? The Renaissance Faire was fun though and I liked the inclusion of some side characters to round out the cast.
A fun little series I recommend for kids at Middle Grade ages.
