While my largest issues with the book are probably my incorrect assumptions about the book, the easiest one to identify and really knock the finished work for is it’s pacing. It took me months to push through the first 60% of the book, then finished the last 120 pages in a night - and it wasn’t necessary to see what would happen but because it finally felt like story was moving forward, even if I didn’t like the actual substance of it. Will probably give the second book a shot to see if it’s pace is closer to my desired speed, but I’m not itching to read more about these characters from this author.
