This was the first audiobook I listened to at 1.25 speed. I did this because it was all substance, no style—for me, at least. I did not relate to any of the characters, certainly not the unsympathetic Matthew or his ridiculous assistant. The only tolerable character was Brother Guy, who was only a periphery character. I would have enjoyed the book much more if it had been he who investigated and solved the murder. The mystery was very intriguing and I wanted to know the answer, which is why I finished it. The research was very well done, but for me there was no heart in this book.
