The Heroine's Journey by G. Miki Hayden

2.0

I wanted to like this book. I hate giving lower star reviews. To some degree, I did. In others, I found myself struggling to continue on to avoid a DNF.

Initially, the book felt a bit disjointed and stuttered. I had a bit of trouble catching the somewhat back and forth of Gwen and Guin, but after a bit, it became more clear and that they had a connection. It was interesting to see how each of them related to the other and the challenges they faced, giving each other the insight. I realized I really enjoyed reading/ hearing/ discovering things revolving around Guin, they seemed to be much more alive and vibrant than Gwen, who seemed a bit lackluster and had less dimensions to her.

I do like the storyline, how Gwen set out to find a the Heroine's Journey, as opposed to the Hero. I just wished that I personally could have gotten more immersed in it.
